Why Checking Individual Rumors Matters

When a major video game leak happens or an anonymous forum post goes viral, people often give a single label to everything—calling the entire leak “100% real” or “completely fake.”

In reality, leaks are rarely all-or-nothing:

A real video leak often contains old experiments or scrapped ideas that developers tested years ago and cut from the final game.
A fake viral post often mixes one real, known fact with dozens of invented rumors (like combining real character names with a fake $150 price tag or fake map size).

To solve this, we break large leaks and rumors down into individual claims and test each one separately on its own merits.

How We Break Down Rumors

Instead of rating an entire leak with one broad label, we check every specific detail on its own:

Our Two-Rule Rating System

Every claim in our database is evaluated using two simple questions:

Rule 1: How Strong Is the Evidence?

Rumor (30%)	Unproven claim circulating on social media.	Anonymous social media posts, 4chan text posts, or Discord rumors.
Disputed (20%)	Rumor that contradicts known game facts or map analysis.	Claims that clash with trailer footage or known game engine limits.
Fake / Debunked (0%)	Proven completely false or fabricated.	Traced to GTA 5 mods, AI generators, or officially denied by Rockstar.

Rule 2: How Old Is the Footage?

Current / Final Build: Features and visuals that reflect the finished game players will receive at launch.
Old Test Footage: Genuine developer footage from early test versions (2021–2024). Mechanics or visuals may have changed or been cut since then.
Developer Test Chamber: Isolated physics or collision tests never intended to be in the actual game world.

Real Examples: How We Rated Popular Rumors

1. “$100–$150 Base Game Price” → Rated: FAKE / DEBUNKED

The Claim: Viral TikTok and social posts claimed GTA 6 would cost $100 to $150 for the standard base edition.
The Truth: This started when internet users misunderstood Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussing entertainment value per hour during an investor call. Take-Two’s financial reports and standard retail practices confirm standard game pricing.

2. “Prone Crawling Movement” → Rated: REAL LEAK (EARLY TEST)

The Claim: Players can drop onto their stomach and crawl in any direction to sneak through tight spaces.
The Truth: Confirmed in both the 2022 leaked test clips and the 2026 test footage. Developer animation variables confirm prone movement was built into early builds.

3. “Mandatory Gas Station Car Refueling” → Rated: UNPROVEN RUMOR

The Claim: Cars use up gas dynamically, forcing players to stop at gas stations during police chases.
The Truth: While gas stations and gas pumps exist as interactive objects in the game world, there is no evidence of a mandatory fuel meter in the gameplay code.

4. “PS VR2 Support at Launch” → Rated: UNPROVEN RUMOR

The Claim: GTA 6 will support PlayStation VR2 headsets on day one.
The Truth: No VR code, stereo camera rendering, or patent filings mention virtual reality support for the initial console launch.
